What's New

April 21, 2000

Well, it's officially summertime in Vancouver. Most of my friends are out of school, their exams are done, papers handed in, professors placated and the like. Well, those friends not doing their masters, right Bella?

Summertime to me has always meant a mad scrabble for work, and this one's no different. I think I'd like a web-based job this summer, oh great and powerful Job-Genie. Something where I can either work from the comfort of my home or in an office filled with kooky, dynamic creative and organizational types. Or both. Preferrably with perks, like cute co-workers, season tickets to the Vancouver Playhouse, free kewl computer hardware or software. But I'd settle for an open pop machine and people with whom I can play either Quake 3 Arena or Homeworld, or any other form of entertaining computer-based time-suckage.

I'm still working for the Alma Mater Society of UBC, at least until the end of the month, updating their webpages and fixing their content. Take a gander at the newly-revamed Exam Database. Yes, it's self-aggrandizing, but that's what a webpage is for, right?

Meandering right back into the topic of summer tho... It looks like I will soon be vehicularly-enabled! Yeah, after nearly a decade of putting up with Transit, freezing in the cold, dark, and damp at all the ungodly hours ever visited on anyone who's had to wait for a bus to show up, I'm gonna have a car. Yeah, yeah, so it's not that exciting, and I've got friends ribbing me for the sheer amount of pollution I'll be contributing to the world's daily quota of "things I can do to help continue to screw up this planet". Bite me. I like this concept. Cars are good for my soul (if bad for my wallet). Plus I get to play my music at comfortably enjoyable levels without annoying anyone else around me, save for those unfortunates who've hitched a ride in my vehicle. Bwah-ha-ha! Those poor souls shall be tormented by the melodious pop sounds of Cyndi Lauper, Debbie Gibson, and Don Henley! Or, if they can down to the funky beat, then they shall groove to Parliament and the Grand Master of Soul.

On a final note, I've always loved Maxim's tagline: "The best thing to happen to men since women". God bless women. They make my life so much more interesting (even if it is occasionally in the Chinese sense of the word).

Peace out G.

Don't stand so,
don't stand so,
don't stand so close to me.
